Here are Updates: Now that we are coming to the end of the nine weeks, it is time to circle back around to previous updates. You may have missed these with the hectic hustle and bustle of the beginning of school.
Classes
For this week's Tech Tuesday prize, tweet a formative assessment idea with a pic or video! How do you use technology to collect data, know what your kids know and can do, and help meet them at their instructional level? Here are some pics from last week's Quizizz challenge: Updates:
Instructional Tidbits: Do you love Kahoot? Then you'll love Quizizz! (Yes, two Zs at the end!) Quizizz is an online quiz game similar to Kahoot where the teacher is the only one to log in and the students all use a pin to enter the quiz. Unlike Kahoot, everything is right there on the students' screens. They do not have to look up at the board for the question and answer. Building a quiz is as easy as Kahoot, especially with an added feature. You can pull individual questions from public quizzes right into your own quiz by clicking the red and white + button. Super easy! You can export the data from the quiz as well. Go to quizizz.com to sign up as a teacher and have your students join in! For this week's prize tweet a picture of your kids playing Kahoot or Quizizz to @brooksteacher @ getkahoot and/or @quizizz. I'll give you until next Tuesday, since we have a short week and this is a day late! Updates:
Instructional Tidbits: This is another graphic and article from the Digital Fluency Academy. It fits perfectly with the SAMR model. This brings up a great point of the WHY and WHEN we use technology, in addition to HOW and WHO. If the technology of today (iPad or Chromebook) is simply replacing the clunky PC that replaced the typewriter, that replaced the pen and paper, have we really grown? Are we hitting on the first 5 strands of the Technology Application TEKS/ISTE Standards by typing on Microsoft Word and submitting? Want to discuss more about digital learning vs. digitzied learning? Sorry, no prize this week. Thanks for reading anyway! |
